Eagle Eye

In the book Peak: Secrets from the New Science of Expertise the authors discuss the subject of brain plasticity and describe an interesting experiment. Through training (30 mins, 3 times a week for 3 months), a group of middle aged volunteers improved their eyesight to the point where they no longer required glasses to read a newspaper, whereas initially they had difficulty focusing on nearby objects (presbyopia).

Taking the experiment as inspiration, the game of Eagle Eye was created. The aim is to click on the digit zero, which appears in a random position in the play area. When you do, the digit zero will pop up somewhere else and essentially it is a game of Whack-a-Mole, but there's a twist.

The twist is that the higher the level that you select, the harder it becomes because the font colour becomes increasingly lighter. Level 1 is very much like a game of Whack-a-Mole, while Level 15 is like trying to spot a polar bear in a blizzard.

No claims are made about this game with regard to improving your eyesight. However, it is quite good fun to play and you might start thinking about cleaning your monitor (it's not designed for mobile devices).
